Mission: to oversee programs that increase the knowledge of the Bible, foster Christian living within the family unit, and strengthen Christian fellowship for all ages. General Information: 410-486-5263;
Sunday School:a weekly program for children ages preschool through senior high during the church service. We have the following classrooms: preschool, combined K-5, and a combined middle and senior high school class. The classes follow the LIVE B.I.G (Belief in God) curriculum which provides a multi-sensory approach to teaching about the bible. This program includes the use of visual aids (DVDs), auditory learning (CDs), and various crafts and games along with written material for the children to read and discuss.
Summer Sunday School: We use the Live B.I.G. One Room Sunday School curriculum for preschool thru fifth grade and a separate class for middle and senior high school during the church service.
Youth Led Church Services: Every fourth Sunday middle and senior high youth combine to lead the worship service. Vacation Bible School is held in the summer months. The theme varies but the curriculum is always scripture that is applicable to that age group. The learning experience is God’s love through singing, crafts, storytellers, food and fellowship. This is one of the Education Committee’s major community outreach program for the year.

Christmas Is Coming Camp-In: Every odd year we sponsor a camp-in for children preschool through fifth grade. The purpose of the camp-in is to give the children a better understanding of the true meaning of Christmas. It’s typically held after Thanksgiving and before the second week in December. The children participate in crafts, music, storytelling and snack before sleeping at the church. We also usually end the evening with a camp fire before putting the children to sleep. Christmas Pageant: For the last several years children ages 5 through 12 have participated in the Christmas Pageant as part of the sermon for the Family Christmas Eve Service. The children perform the Christmas Pageant as a way to tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. General Information: 410-486-5263
30 Hour Famine: Youth participated in the 30 hour famine/fast. This is a program to help fight hunger around the world. Our youth fast for approximately 24 to 30 hours and fellowshipped together over the weekend by sleeping at the church and engaging in various community service projects. Each youth is asked to have someone sponsor them. The money that we raised is sent to the World Vision, to support hunger in areas like Malawi, Swaziland, North Korea, and here in the U.S.A. Confirmation: At the age of 12 we offer youth course in understand the Bible, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit on a personal level. The course is structured to teach them scriptures, traditions of the church, and social principles to navigated the world and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, Lord and friend. 8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Bible Teaching from Genesis to Revelation or the basic disciplines of the church derived from scriptural principles. Study includes: Story Telling, commentaries, illusions, study guides and wholesome dialogue for today’s application.

¨ Sanctuary Choir - Choir for adults of all ages, including High School Graduates. Musical selections include, but are not limited to, traditional music. This choir sings regularly in the worship service. Meets on Thursday nights for Rehearsals. Robin Trenner, Director.
¨ Children's & Cloister Choir - Choir for children ages 3 thru grades K-5. This choir sings in church regularly. Meets on Tuesday evenings for rehearsals. Cheryl Allison, Director.
¨ Gospel Choir – Vocal and instrumental choir for members of all ages. Musical selections feature Gospel and Contemporary music, meeting the diverse musical interests of our congregation. ¨ Variety Ringers - Handbell training choir open to anyone grade 6 and up wishing to learn about handbells. No prior musical experience is necessary. The focus of this choir is to learn about the handbells. Occasionally plays in worship. Meets on Thursday nights for rehearsals. Susan Butler, Director.
¨ Joyful Noise - Handbell choir for experienced ringers. Plays monthly in church as well as in concerts at church and in the community. Meets on Tuesday night for rehearsals. Susan Butler, Director.
¨ Steers of Old Male Quartet - An acapela quartet which sings at special events at church or in the community. Meets as needed to prepare for service.
¨ Concerts - A selection of concerts, usually on Sunday afternoon, featuring our choirs and musicians, or special guests from other churches, or professional groups. A variety of styles of vocal and instrumental music are featured. Check current newsletter & calendar for upcoming concerts.

Evolution is for Youth ages 12-17 to gather together and learn more about God’s Word, participate in community outreach projects, such as feeding the Homeless, cleaning the stream; and have fun. They meet weekly on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. In addition to the weekly meetings there is usually at least one special event/trip planned each month, such as camping retreats, revivals, and sporting events.

Elevation is for young adults ages 18-35. They mainly gather outside the church and in the community through fellowship activities (bowling, volleyball, skiing, etc.); mission work; and by raising the consciousness of our congregation to health issue in our communities. Their motto is “getting it done and being the church.” Elevation plans many outreach projects and social events throughout the year.

Senior Moments is open to all people ages 55+ and their guests. They meet monthly between September – May on Thursdays. They bring their own lunch and presenter from group or local agency gives a talk on health, wealth, financial planning, and other topic that might interest seniors.

EDUCATION OUTREACH

Schools in our area are reporting their population has increasing needs due to poverty (about 70% of school population is eligible for free or reduced-price meals). Therefore we try to provide avenues for teacher’s aides during the school day to help out in the classrooms supporting basic literacy (for example, knowing their letters and colors). Aides must attend an initial training which is held once monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. We provide financial support through sponsorship programs such as Target’s Take Charge of Education, Giant’s A Plus, or Box Tops for Education. A Box Tops collection box has been set up at church. We also provide seasonal Winter Clothing and Coats.

This ministry team keeps the mission and vision of the church moving forward and progressing through welcoming, prayer, teaching (preparing), learning, caring, sharing, fellowship and sending. They are also responsible for the worship experience, the flow of the worship service and fulfilling the needs of the congregations faith develop, salvation journey and Christian discipleship.
• Altar Guild – The guild prepares the Sanctuary for Worship each Sunday, putting up banners, preparing the pulpit and lectern and setting up Communion. Guild members serve on a rotating basis in pairs. Julia Shaefer
• Ushers – Assists in Worship by receiving the offering, handing out bulletins and assisting with Communion.-Norma Spicer
• Acolytes – Children 12 – 18 assist in Worship by lighting and extinguishing the altar candles.
• Liturgists – Read Scripture and prayers and assist in leading the Worship Service, public speaking experience requested. Coordinator – Virginia Adams
• Greeters – Greet families as they enter the Church. Coordinator – Virginia Adams
• Sound Technicians – Operate the sound system during the service and make sure the microphones are in working order before the service begins. Experience preferred. Coordinator – Andy & Ken Myers
• Lay Speakers – These individuals, with the pastor, lead the congregation in faith building, stewardship principles, disciple leadership, and nurture minds, bodies and souls to Christ Jesus. They are called to lead in worship, bible study; sick and shut ministry, missions and assistance in sacraments. They meet quarterly.
Staff Pastor and Parish Relations Committee
This committee finds candidates suitable for the church (e.g. pastor, sextons, secretary, ministry staff, etc.). Members address the concerns between congregation and the staff. If a church member has a concern with a staff person they present it to the committee to address with the staff person(s) for deliberation and resolution. This is a closed committee. Only the members appointed at Charge Conference are able to attend.
Trustee Committee
Members serve as the caretaker of the church facilities. All maintenance, repairs and new construction is coordinated through this committee. They are also responsible for the policies to use church facilities (e.g. church or hall rental fees, memorandum of understandings (MOU) agreement(s) and how the facilities can or cannot be used [availability, decorations, parking, etc.]). The pastor is an ex-official member of this committee.
Finance Committee
This committee manages the finances of the church, oversees spending, and submits budgets and recommendations on large expenditures to the Church Council. Fund Raising – This is a subcommittee of Finance that plans and executes fund raisers. Members of this committee can serve for the duration of a specific project or on an ongoing basis. Stewardship – assist congregants with understanding the biblical principles of giving of time, talents, treasures and witness.
